The next-gen Tesla Roadster has got some huge promises to fulfil and among them is the ability to hit 60mph from stop in 1.9 seconds. This is the exact number that was previewed by Elon Musk several months ago and he has come to confirm that it is not an imaginary figure.
Elon revealed that the 1.9 seconds on the Roadster’s preview sheet is actually the bare minimum for the car’s performance. When questioned on what he meant by that, Elon said the Roadster can go a lot faster if consumers are to adopt the add-ons from SpaceX.
In detail, SpaceX has created rocket thrusters for the next-gen Tesla Roadster and it will boost the car’s speed by a significant margin. It is then when realized that the Roadster has a more important role to fill than achieving monstrous speed.
Think about it. Rocket thrusters? This is a tool commonly found in the aviation industry to achieve flight. It’s application on the Roadster basically suggests that Tesla wants to set-up the stage for the development of flying cars. That will also explain why Tesla chose the name Autopilot.
