Since the announcement of Tesla‘s 2020 Roadster model, car enthusiasts have been patiently waiting for a first full look at what Elon Musk claims to be the fastest production car ever made. Listening to the calls of the automotive world, former late-night host and fellow car enthusiast Jay Leno put together a feature on the forthcoming electric supercar for the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.
Meeting up with Tesla’s Chief Designer, Franz von Holzhausen, at the electric automobile manufacturer’s design center, the two go through the past, present and future of the revolutionary company. Following a brief rundown of Tesla’s 2008 Roadster and 2018 Model 3, Leno climbs into the 2020 Roadster and feels the 10,000Nm of torque produced by its three motors. Priced at $200,000 USD, the electric supercar is able to go from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, travel a quarter mile in 8.8 seconds, and reach a top speed of over 250 mph with a 600-mile range on a single charge.
