New off-road electric car claims to have Tesla Roadster beating 0-60mph of 1.8 seconds

An electric car start-up has made huge claims about its new EV hypercar, comparing it to the .

Taipei-based company Xing Mobility unveiled the ‘MISS R’ alongside an impressive specs sheet.

The ‘MISS R’ has been seen before, in fact, it was was.

At the time of the Roadster launch, however, the car was merely a skeleton and had no bodywork, but now the vehicle has been completed.

According to the firm, the car can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 1.8 seconds and from 0-124 mph 5.1 seconds.

Tesla Roadster is expected to go from 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds and 0-62mph in 2.0 seconds.

While it claims to be quicker off the line the car does appear to have a lower top speed of 168mph compared to the Roadster’s 250mph.

Xing say they can achieve this immense power thanks to its  1-Megawatt (1,341hp) powertrain equipped with four independent electric motors.

The company also claims to have one of the "highest power density EV battery packs on the market.”

Currently no range information has been released for the car.

Tesla’s Roadster is expected to have around 620 miles of range on a single charge, meaning Xing has its work cut out.

The battery pack is made from 4116-cells, in an 98-module battery pack and utilises an energy swap system which allows the entire battery to be replaced in under five minutes.

A limited run of 20 production models are being prepared to be made in 2019, costing around $1 million each.

XING Mobility co-founder and CTO, Azizi Tucker, said: “The commercial vehicle market is primed for a conversion to electric drivetrains due to functional needs, increasing emissions requirements and public noise reduction.

"However, this market is currently extremely under served with many electric vehicle technology manufacturers focusing only on passenger vehicles”.
